The miracle of birth. Most of the time, the calves are born at the home place and the fresh cows are brought up here. This little fella was a surprise from one of the heifers. He arrived in mid-afternoon sporting a perfect heart on his forehead. Nothing is quite so beautiful, or gives such a sense of accomplishment as a newborn. That's what makes all the days farming in the minus degree weather worthwhile.
